At Platypus Health Ltd, home of The French ObGyn, your privacy and confidentiality are our highest priorities.

Platypus Health Ltd (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your personal data and maintaining the highest standards of medical confidentiality. This notice explains how we collect, use, store, and share your data when you are seen by Dr Benjamin Viaris de Lesegno or the clinical team at Platypus Health Ltd, whether in person, via telemedicine, or through partner clinics.

Platypus Health Ltd operates in partnership with Bliss Chelsea Clinic, HCA Healthcare UK (including The Portland Hospital and affiliated sites), and the Medicare Francais for the provision of integrated clinical services.

We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018, and Common Law Duty of Confidentiality.

2. Who Controls Your Data

Platypus Health Ltd acts as Data Controller for all consultations conducted independently or through its own digital or administrative systems.

When care is delivered within a partner facility, the facility (Bliss Chelsea Clinic, HCA Healthcare UK including The Portland Hospital and affiliated sites, the Medicare Francais, or Imperial college Healthcare private Care, including the Lindo Wing and affiliated sites) and Platypus Health Ltd act as joint controllers for the processing of clinical data generated within their  systems.

Each organisation is independently responsible for ensuring GDPR compliance, data security, and responding to subject access requests for the data they control.

3. What Personal Data We Collect

We may process:

  • Personal identifiers: name, date of birth, contact details, NHS number.

  • Clinical data: medical history, diagnoses, test results, imaging, treatment plans, prescriptions, referrals, and correspondence.

  • Administrative and financial data: appointment history, insurance details, invoices, payment records.

  • Digital information: data from web forms, secure emails, or teleconsultation platforms (e.g. video calls).

4. How and Why We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide safe, effective, and personalised medical care.

  • Coordinate treatment with a partner facility (Bliss Chelsea Clinic, HCA Healthcare UK including The Portland Hospital and affiliated sites, the Medicare Francais, or Imperial college Healthcare private Care, including the Lindo Wing and affiliated sites) or another clinical partner (laboratories, imagery centers, etc).

  • Maintain accurate medical records and comply with GMC, CQC, and MHRA standards.

  • Manage billing and insurance claims.

  • Conduct anonymised audits or quality improvement work.

Legal bases: provision of healthcare (UK GDPR Art. 9(2)(h)); compliance with legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)); legitimate interests in safe clinical practice (Art. 6(1)(f)); and explicit consent where required (Art. 6(1)(a)).

5. How and When We Obtain Consent

Patients provide implied consent when accepting to receive care from Dr Benjamin Viaris de Lesegno and when sharing any personal or medical data with him or any partner facility.
Consent can be confirmed at registration, prior to any procedure, or when coordinating multidisciplinary care.
Patients are informed that data sharing is limited to what is required for safe care and that consent may be withdrawn at any time without affecting ongoing treatment.

6. Who We Share Your Data With

Your information may be shared only when necessary and in line with strict confidentiality and security protocols, including:

  • Partner facilities: the Medicare Francais,  Imperial college Healthcare private Care, including the Lindo Wing and affiliated sites, HCA Healthcare UK hospitals and affiliated sites, Bliss Chelsea Clinic.

  • NHS providers (e.g. GP or maternity services, where clinically appropriate).

  • Accredited laboratories, imaging providers, and pharmacies.

  • Medical defence and indemnity bodies, where required.

  • Regulatory and statutory bodies (GMC, CQC, ICO) as mandated by law.

All partners are assessed for UK GDPR compliance, ICO registration, and encryption standards. Data transfers occur only over secure, encrypted systems (e.g. nhs.net).

7. Data Storage and Retention

Clinical data are stored electronically on encrypted servers within the UK.
No paper records are retained unless legally required, in which case they are kept in locked, access-controlled storage.
Records are retained for at least 8 years after last contact, or until age 25 for minors, in accordance with Department of Health and GMC guidelines.

8. Your Rights Under Data Protection Law

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your data (Subject Access Request).

  • Request correction or deletion of inaccurate data.

  • Restrict or object to processing under specific circumstances.

  • Request data portability for personal copies.

Where the data is held jointly with a partner facility, you can contact them directly or  your request will be directed appropriately and acknowledged within one month.

9. Data Security

  • All systems are protected by encryption, firewalls, and password-controlled access.

  • Portable devices and laptops are encrypted and updated regularly.

  • Only authorised clinical staff may access identifiable patient data.

  • All emails containing personal data are transmitted via secure, encrypted channels.

10. International Data Transfers

We do not routinely transfer data outside the UK.
If international transfer is necessary (e.g. for an overseas patient or insurer), this will occur only with your explicit consent and under adequate safeguard mechanisms compliant with UK GDPR.
